4 Day Ssese Island
The 84-forested island of the Ssese Group, float
like green jewels on the waters of Lake Victoria, located 55km from Entebbe
north west of lake victoria, this is one of Uganda’s greatest natural gifts
waiting to be discovered. Ssese Group of islands provides an earthly insect
paradise, whereas bird watching and fishing gears are important in this place.
The most famous and recommended tours and
historical places of interest in Ssese include; Nsirwe Island, famous for bird
and spider breeding, Bugaba Island, the birth and home place of the African
Grey parrots .It also hosts a living sample of a true African virgin Equatorial
forest, Bubembe and Funve Islands, and Serinya, Banda and Kitobo Islands.
4 DAYS ITINERARY
Day 1:
Enjoy an early breakfast and transfer to Nakiwogo Landing site, board a ferry
that leaves at 2pm for Lutoboka bay on Bugala Island. Depending on the choice
of accommodation, drive a few meters from the landing site along the beach and
check into the hotel for an overnight.
Day 2:After
an early breakfast, embark on a half day boat ride around 3 islands, Visit one
of the fishing villages, visit one settlement island and an empty island; get
opportunities of bird watching and forest walk. Have lunch at the island. Enjoy
an evening canoe ride watching the sunset.
Day 3: Enjoy
an early breakfast and embark on a morning nature walk in the forests, after
the trek return to the lodge for lunch and go a village tour on motor bikes,
visit the palm tree and pineapple plantations, tour one of the major fishing
villages on Bugala islands. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4:
Board ferry back to Nakiwogo landing Site.
